They do appear to be related, although the verdict is still unclear (a bunch of stuff seems to be related in this area, so it's not a unique connection). But there doesn't appears to be any subordination, no. I guess the issue is also that we don't know quite enough about stutter yet, so it's hard to say anything solid with regards to comparisons.
