My stammer surfaces usually in the middle of a sentence I am trying to say. My go to technique to get through it is to just restart the whole sentence and kind of speed through the part of the sentence that I already got out, resuming normal talking speed once I get past the word that was causing me trouble, but I feel like this method is somewhat inefficient. The best technique I've used has been just stopping, taking a deep breath, and visualize the word as I'm starting to say it. I just don't use that method often because It's become second nature for me to use the first method I mentioned above. If you have good visualization skills, one thing that also worked for me was trying to imagine that there were other people speaking the same thing I was. I usually had success and no stammer at all while reading along with multiple, or even 1 other person, at the same time. The only unfortunate thing with this method is that it takes a lot of mental energy to imagine this "second voice", and keep it consistent through whatever you were trying to say. It worked really well for short sentences/phrases, and getting stuck on one word, but was a lot harder if reading a whole paragraph or longer. Meditation has also helped me a lot! I still have a stammer and some days are better than others. I hope any of this has helped!
