Could you provide a step-by-step guide on how to effectively apply the Del Ferro method? (in your own thoughts) This is my attempt to synthesize the Del Ferro strategy: Step 1: * eyes closed (to avoid getting distracted from the hand movement in front of the diaphragm) * breathe in while moving your hand downwards in front of the diaphragm * then breathe out while moving your hand upwards * breathe in while moving your hand downwards again * then speak while moving your hand upwards * don't speak slower, monotonous or like a robot. Just speak natural, spontaneous and with normal rhythm and intonation * practice the DF method with strangers the whole day downtown or around central station to desensitize Step 2: * only switch to step 1, if you didn't stutter in step 1 for 2 days straight * eyes open * stop using the hand movement * instead, visualize in your mind the up- and downwards motion of the diaphragm (as a distraction from triggers, such as, stuttering anticipation and negative reactions) * if you stutter even one time in step 2, then go back to step 1 Step 3: * don't apply the del ferro method. Produce subconscious speech like a non-stutterer Disadantage of the del ferro method: It can take 30 seconds to distract yourself from triggers which makes it more difficult to apply in reallife situations. The main goal is to not get distracted by triggers, but Del Ferro doesn't detect or analyze triggers. Drawing from my own experience, writing a list of all my triggers can take well over a year. Future studies could investigate this further to improve the learning curve
