**In your own thoughts, how would you recommend managing head or neck pain for people who stutter?** In my experience, intolerance for **perceived conflict** triggers my head and neck pain, explained in below list. **My triggers:** * Perceiving or anticipating that I will fail to reduce this pain while desiring the opposite **\[perceived conflict\]** * I require that I don't waste the listener's time or effort (e.g., in an effort to ease the head or neck pain, I desire that I turn my focus inward, away from the listener resulting in disregarding the default code of conduct and etiquette - while I don't allow or justify myself to disregard etiquette in this way) **\[perceived conflict\]** * giving up on reducing this **pain** e.g., because: * I'm convinced that I don't know how to reduce this pain **\[lack of knowledge, lack of mindful observation\]** * I lack confidence to reduce this pain **\[no confidence\]** * In case I will fail to reduce this pain, I already plan to evoke pain **\[impaired planning\]** * I expect that I'll fail reducing this pain **\[anticipating\]** * I link this **pain** to speech performance **\[associating, linking\]** * I require measuring glottal air pressure against the speech muscles **\[impaired timing\]** * justifying or allowing inhibiting execution of speech plans **\[justifying story-telling\]** * I require avoidance or struggle responses **\[overreliance on secondary behaviors\]** * I integrate stuttering in my self-concept
