How Do You Implement Speech Therapy Techniques In Actual Conversations? So I've been reading up on a few speech techniques for stutterers. One really helpful one was analyzing words you have trouble with. Consciously stuttering on them in slow motion, and then identifying where the tension lies. And then practicing saying those words again without stuttering in slow motion, this time consciously relaxing the muscles around where the tension was. The idea is to use these techniques whenever you encounter words like that. This works..................the only problem is that I don't see how it can work in an actual conversation. It works on your own, because your mind is tranquil and is only focusing on that one word. There is nobody else waiting on you or expecting you to say more. You have the time to slowly dissect that word and work through it on your own pace. But in a conversation, you have to do this really quickly. I don't see how its humanly possible to do this at such a quick pace. Bringing up that knowledge and technique so quickly. It's like expecting someone to do a math problem in a time span of 1 second. Also, the other person will not give you the time to take your own time. They might finish the word for you. I get how this technique can work if you have to say one particular word. Like a one word answer. Because you have the time to remember the technique and warm up your muscles for it. How do you warm up your muscles at the same pace the other person is talking?
