I was a barista for a few years and loved it! It’s your first job so there’s probably going to be a little anxiety centering around the fact that you’ve never worked before. But with more experience working, you’ll find that you’ll get into the groove of things. For me personally, when I’m at work, I have a script that I stick to. Especially as a barista, you’re probably going to be saying the same thing over and over again. For me, it was “Hi, how’re you today? (The customer answers then asks how you’re doing) I’m great, thank you! What can I get started for you today?” Using the same script really helped me out to minimize the amount of stuttering that happens at work. Occasionally you’ll be put into situations that take you away from that script, but those aren’t as common.
