Public speaking actually helped me tremendously Kinda a success story. I was a quiet kid in school, but now I am currently in college and we do a lot of projects that we have to present in front of professors and students. The first time was the SCARIEST for me. I stuttered so badly: lots of blocks, prolongations, etc. I felt really awkward about my speech, but you know what? I was really embarrassed about my speech, but guess what? Professors who graded my work didn't pity me or laughed at me. In fact, it wasn't that awkward at all. They gave me lots of feedback on my project and I was one of the students who got the highest grades. Fast forward to now, I still stutter, but I am no longer afraid of public speaking, I think? I think I got used to it, and my brain was like, "Oh, no one will hurt us even if we stutter..." I think it helped that I was lucky enough to have understanding professors who encouraged me. And even if someone is being rude towards you, please know that there are actually a lot of people who will listen to WHAT you say, not HOW you say it.
