I've thought about this so many times, especially as a kid. I always wished I was deaf because I always felt that people would be more understanding of being deaf as a disability and then I might actually be able to find a community. But if you think about it, we are still able to talk with more people overall. How many deaf people have you met? I'd rather be able to at least somewhat be able to communicate with people rather than rely on people knowing sign language.
