I was scared as hell going to my first party in college, but turns out parties give me a sort if adrenaline rush I guess, and probably combined with the loud music I suddenly become pretty damn fluent in a party environment. That got me in with an (occasional) party crowd and my social skills have absolutely flourished as a result. You absolutely should give it a shot, do your best to go in with an open mind just looking to have fun and meet some people.
