Mocked by teachers in front of a whole ass class of multiple kids, many times, mostly between the ages of 9 and 12. Heartbreaking stuff I’ll never forget. I’m sorry you went through that. Something I could never comprehend is laughing at someone else’s pain, or struggles, or laughing when someone else is crying. But there is something I was always certain of: I’d rather be the crying, stuttering little girl being mocked, than one of the adults or children able to look at a sobbing child while pointing and laughing. I still feel this way and I’d rather be myself with my stuttering than someone without empathy. My experiences with stuttering make me feel like a lucky person, when I look at them through this lens.
