I cannot believe how many people have this mindset in this subreddit. As a person with a severe stutter who has met people with milder stutters, a stutter is a stutter. No matter its severity, we all suffer the same effects of it, whether it be psychologically, physiologically, sociologically, etc… My friend, who is in grad school to be an SLP and also stutters, said she recently read a post on the SLP subreddit about stuttering and someone stated that research shows that severity doesn’t matter, it’s the perception of your own stuttering that determines the effects. I do get the point you’re trying to make here because I held the same belief for a long time. I sometimes still struggle with it. But it cannot and should not be a competition for who has it worse. Point is: We all deal with the similar challenges and thoughts.
