My fiance has a stutter and is from Mexico - her stutters a lot more in her native Spanish but when she speaks English you barely notice it (unless she's tired, anxious, upset and when she says her name). I think it's similar to when shift languages - when I speak my native language (which is Polish) me speaking Polish has a different tone when I speak English.
