Content
If you’re a person who stutters, chances are you are going to stutter...and that’s perfectly okay. I would recommend “advertising” at the beginning of the interview. Say something like “As we are getting started, I wanted to let you know that I’m a person who stutters. You may hear some pauses or repetitions in my speech, I just wanted to let you know that’s what is going on.” Or something similar, may it work for you! The truth is, people who stutter will probably stutter for life. In high feared situations such as an interview, it is often beneficial to “get your stuttering out there” early so you can more easily focus on content for the rest of the interview. You’re the best person for the role AND you stutter. They aren’t mutually exclusive. Good luck and congratulations on stepping outside your comfort zone!
