People that say “no one cares if you stutter” is absolutely BS I started working as a bank teller and I’ve been nervous to do drive thru transactions because for some reason it makes me nervous, and the nervousness makes my stutter worse. Today I had to do it and of course I stuttered like crazy, the customer said “what?” Afterwards which is fair, if you don’t expect someone to talk like that it’s easy to get lost in what they’re saying. I end the transaction and I can tell my coworkers found it funny. Granted most of them don’t know I stutter (and the one that did didn’t laugh or anything). But a few of them mocked it and laughed at it, the manager just made light of it and said “come on you got it”. I didn’t take offense to her as she just thought I was nervous and didn’t know what I was doing. I laughed along and played it off, but it’s so annoying. I thought the reason I masked (or tried to mask) my stutter was because of my own fear of judgement. I realize that fear is completely valid and I practically have to mask it. If I don’t mask it I will be judged and my words will be invalid. Everybody focuses on how things are said and not what is said I was so proud of myself today too because I answered a phone call and talked almost 100% fluently, but this ruined my feeling of accomplishment and now I’m even more nervous for this shit
