I think it's different for everybody honestly. I went to speech therapy for years as a kid & found it to be completely useless. There isn't one magic cure all that is going to just make someone stop stuttering. I know what helped me is to put myself outside of my comfort zone consistently. It sucked (SO BADLY!! haha) at the time, but afterwards I slowly started to stress less & less about stuttering, to the point that my bad days are FAR fewer than my good days. For me, I feel like the stress that I could stutter was what made it so bad for me. Now that I don't stress about stuttering (because I've already horribly embarrassed myself & lived through it), it's much less of an issue for me. It's never going away, but I've found what I can do to manage it that significantly lessens it's effect on my life & outlook. I think people that stutter need to get out of the mindset of looking for some magic cure. It doesn't exist. They need to figure out what they can do to ease the burden of stuttering on themselves. If practicing different speech strategies helps you, then you'll make the time & work for it if it's truly important to you.
