When the teacher would call on me in class for an answer, I would always say "I don't know" or give an obvious, one word, wrong answer to end it as soon as possible. To me, at the time, being seen as unintelligent was far better than having a stutter. Hiding the stutter was always my top priority. I regret it now, but at the time it seemed like the only viable option. So, I completely understand where you're coming from on this.
