I understand where you’re coming from man, however no one knows exactly what you go through but you. You have your own experiences and other people have theirs. The closest any other person can get to understanding what you go through personally is obviously other people who stammer (me for instance) and what we all go through on a daily basis in regards to our verbal communication. Instead of trying to hide/think of it as a ‘burden’, accept that it is a part of you, and get help/support (if you haven’t already) to control it. Spreading awareness is not a bad thing, it allows fluent speakers to try and understand/acknowledge this condition and how to respond/show respect to someone who stammers. You say everyone has their own burdens and they don’t need days dedicated for them...what about other disabilities/conditions like cancer, cerebral palsy etc...people with these conditions didn’t choose them? I know they are more life-threatening than having a stutter but it’s how it affects you as a person and your quality of life that matters. Without awareness, there would be no fundraising to help research for ways to tackle and possibly treat specific conditions. Life is what you make it mate, how you view yourself and your surroundings. If you think that’s “just how life works” then that’s okay, that’s your opinion but I suggest having more of an open mind. I don’t intend any disrespect whatsoever, I simply disagree. Positivity and Perspective. Peace out.
