Was talking with someone close about how telling someone with a stutter to just do that oral report bro or ask that person out etc. just isn’t possible. I said it’s like telling a wheelchair bound person to just get up and walk bro, better yet, you can run that marathon bro. They said something cliche such as just need to believe in yourself, and they somehow know about a secret way to overcome stuttering but won’t tell me. They disagree that stuttering is a disability. Me, with my entire life experience of stuttering, said no but stuttering really is real. It really is like the wheelchair person. Or it’s like telling a person with no arms to just win that arm wrestling competition bro. They began to threaten me and dared me to bring up how it’s like a wheelchair bound person. These people just don’t understand and don’t care to. For me it helps to be grateful for what we got. All our limbs, teeth, home etc whatever just gotta work with what we got.
