One of the worst things a stutterer can do is react to a stutter. I know it's frustrating and embarrassing but the more negatively you react, the more attention you draw to the fact that it's happening. The best thing one can do (for me anyway) is abandon the ideals of happy and normal. Happy is a choice (unless you're clinically depressed) and normal is relative. If you worry too much about being those things, you detract from being either.
