Because the interviewer is arrogant and is just looking at the applicants as numbers in a pile. Based on what impossiblecolors said, the interviewer was a jerk and didn't care about offending them. True, maybe the interviewer didn't *try* to offend them, but they didn't try hard to be decent and polite and focus on impossiblecolors' job skills and resume.
