A lot of people not familiar with stammering do think you're dumb, how to respond to that is by saying you aren't and have a speech disability, if they still act or treat you like a dumb person then laugh and ignore. Some people try to ask me logical or maths questions to gauge things and when I stare them down they apologize and/or quit it. It is what it is.
