I stutter when I use my full name. It's not even the stuttering that's the annoying thing, it's the crippling anxiety that comes before it, just because I know it'll happen. For most of my adult life now I'll just introduce myself by my nickname, which I don't struggle with. Same with my surname. Often in meetings when people are doing introductions they'll say "Hi, I'm John Smith from Company A". I'll just be like "Hi, I'm <Nickname> from Company B". It's just one of the many burdens we have that non-stutters don't really see/think about. (P.S This is my first interaction on the sub, and it's weirdly freeing to talk to people who understand what I have to go through).
