Im not sick. I work in a call centre for 8h 45mins for 5 days a week. There is zero fresh air in the call centre, doors remain closed and so do the windows. The ac is constantly on and my mouth and throat gets dried out within an hour on most days. I had a week off not too long ago and had never felt so much bliss with an actual healthy throat that wasn't stone dry or irritated. My voice only cracks in the call centre when I start to stutter and I don't know if it's due to all my colleagues around me and being more embarrassed or if its due to the dry throat. I drink litres of water during my shift and have throat soothers that I take but they don't last long. My current techniques are to take my time, slow down and try to have a clear voice. There are plenty of words I stutter on such as the word "Emergency" for example and I find when I take a couple of seconds to try and expand my throat for clear passage, I usually say it without issue. In saying that, it isn't the easiest to get used to and I sometimes forget myself.
