I had this same honor. Here’s what I did and it worked. 1. Rehearse your speech. Rehearse. Rehearse. Rehearse. Rehearse. The more you know what you’re going to say the better. When you rehearse, do so in a room by yourself with no music or background noise and don’t lower your voice, but don’t yell either - the reason is because the room will be quiet when you’re giving the speech, so you wanna have a normal volume. You’ll be prepared for the feeling. Once I figured out what I was going to say, I practiced for almost a year. I’d practice in the car while driving, while in a bathroom stall, anywhere. 2. After the ceremony and before the speech, get a good buzz going. Don’t get sh*tfaced drunk, just enough to relax you. The calming of the booze + a speech you’ve memorized because you’ve rehearsed it thousands of times is a good way to prep. I hope this helps! Keep us posted.
