I had an abusive childhood but never realized the lifelong implications related to my stuttering. At the age of 70, through psychotherapy, I just stopped stuttering. Evidently, the latent anger and resentment had contributed to my dysfluency. It's been 7 years since I no longer stutter. When stuttering is emotionally caused, psychological therapy can be the solution. Not all stuttering is emotionally caused, neurological as well as emotional causes are implicated. Yes, it is possible that a stutterer can become fluent.
