Nobody deserves this Hello everyone! I thought I would introduce myself a little and talk about a recent experience I had with a car salesman. But first, I’ve had a speech disability (or stutter as it‘s also known) for over thirty years (I am in my 40’s now.) I don’t remember exactly how old I was when I started having my speech difficulty, but I was very young when it first started. I’ve had some speech therapy over the years and it has helped me some. However, my most recent therapy was when I was in my 20’s. So anyway, I have been thinking of buying a new car (the make of car really isn’t relevant). So, I arrived at the dealership and parked my car. I was greeted by this salesman who shook my hand. Being a stutterer, I have trouble keeping eye contact with people. He introduced himself and told me his name. He asked me what my name was, and I couldn’t say my name right away. I eventually said my name, but I was almost out of breath (I can’t control my breathing sometimes.) I told this salesman that I was torn between two new cars and I was there to test drive them. So we walked over to the first car I wanted to test drive. This guy said that he would go and get the keys to one of them and I could test drive it. I said okay and then he left to go and get the keys for the first car I wanted to test drive. The salesman came back with the keys for the car and he drove it out of the parking space. He got out of the drivers seat and opened the back of the car for me to look inside. I got my phone out and took a pic of the inside. The salesman opened one of the passenger doors and I sat in the back for a moment. I got out of the back of the car. The salesman asked me if I wanted to test drive it. I said yes, and then he asked to see my drivers license. I found this to be a bit odd but I showed him my license. But then he said, “I’ll be right back“, and walks away with my license. I don’t know what he did with my license, but I saw him walk into the main building with it. A few minutes later, the salesman comes back and hands me back my license. He asks me, “Do you still want a test drive?” I said yes. Then he asks me to get into the passenger seat of the car. (Note, I have bought two cars from this company and this is the first time I am being treated like this). He then tells me that he’s going to drive the car for the first few minutes (for whatever reason I don’t know). So, after a few minute, this A\*\*\*\*\*\* pulls the car over, and gets out, and lets me get into the drivers seat. So, after only test driving the car for less than ten minutes, we get back to the dealership. I am already getting uncomfortable with this guy at this point. Still sitting in the car at the dealership, this guy asks me what I thought of the car. I told him I liked the car. But I needed more time to think. He actually asked me, “Think about what?” I clearly told him before test driving that car that I wanted to test drive two cars. The subject of the other car never even came up with him. And he actually had the nerve to pressure me about a car I test drove for barely a few minutes!! I never felt more uncomfortable or disrespected in my life. After he left to return the keys inside the building. I got inside my car and left! I will be reporting him to their management. Nobody deserves to be treated like I was treated. Stutter or not!
