British Stutterer's are "Lucky"! I'm not being serious there, tongue in cheek. but we have a representative from a software vendor spending the week with us at work who is from England. He has a block stutter like I do. I don't repeat words or syllables, I just go silent and my mouth opens and closes like a drowning fish at times. His stutter is much more prolific than mine, but he has this amazing soft posh accent. His adaptation to counter his stutter is to smack his lips and kind of purse his lips. He speaks in a slow, smooth London accent. His stutter makes him seem even smarter than he probably is! Not. Fair. :D Look I'm from Chicago. Even when we don't speak with a stutter it's not pretty, we talk fast and we talk monotone. When I purse my lips or smack my lips when I speak to people, I can visually see my stock value go down in their eyes. Oh if I was only from England! :)
