I contacted them recently and waited a long time for a reply, only to receive an email of just three sentences. In my message, I had asked if there was someone who could help me learn Dutch — even as a friend — so that it could be mutually beneficial. I also explained that I wanted this because I feel afraid and embarrassed to approach people who do not stutter. In the end, they sent me a very brief answer — I don’t even know from whom — simply suggesting that I should go to the library, where I might find people to practice with. That was advice I could have easily found on my own, and because of such a response, I would never contact them again. I honestly thought that this organization existed so that we could support one another. I didn’t realize that the fact I don’t speak Dutch yet — even though I speak English fluently — might be seen as some kind of obstacle maybe
