It doesn’t have to be a thing. We stutterers tend to make it a bigger deal for ourselves than it is for other people. I knew a girl whose dad has Tourette’s. She didn’t even really think about it. Her dad had little tics sometimes. It was just something that was normal for him. My oldest nephew (5) asked why I “said it like that” when I stuttered recently. I told him that “sometimes my brain is going faster than my mouth and words don’t come out right, and that lots of people do it sometimes.” He said “... do you want to build a train track shaped like a dinosaur with me?”
