if it helps at all, i usually preface job interviews with "i have a chronic, uncontrollable stutter. this is a medical condition. please be patient with me." or something along those lines. in school, i became accustomed to doing that before presenting because i got tired of getting points docked for something i can't control. its kinda awkward, especially the first couple of times you do it. but ive found it really helps, and most of the time, the person im talking to will be understanding and not hold it against me. sometimes youll come across shitty people who have no empathy, but thats not someone you want to work with anyway. at my current job, my hiring manager actually asked me ab my stutter. it caught me off guard because usually, when that happens, it'll lead into a tone-deaf comment. she actually used to have a stutter herself and told me that im not the only one there, either. one of the servers also has a stutter! having a stutter can create a lot of social anxiety and shyness, but i promise you that people are mostly understanding and graceful about it. you just have to be upfront that its something you cant control. i hope you can have some success with job searching. phone calls are my biggest fear because my stutter comes out tenfold when i cant see the person im talking to. if its a local place, it might be worth it to go in and talk to the manager first. ask about availability, get accustomed to the people. that way if/when you have to take a phone call later, it isnt so stressful. a lot of jobs do the hiring process online and over the phone, but it also shows them you have initiative! i wish you the best of luck and i hope some of this can help you. edit: formatting and minor spelling errors
