To tell someone to just be positive after losing a parent is incredibly hurtful, and it is NOT what is going on here. It is perfectly understandable to be distraught after losing a loved one. What isn't understandable, is to continue to dwell on it. At some point, you need to make peace with it and move on. Otherwise, life is going to pass you by. Same thing goes for breakups, losing a pet, etc. Why do we treat our stutter any differently? Unrelated to that, I fail to see how it is appropriate to compare blind and deaf people to animals. That makes no sense and feels very mean in my opinion, far worse than telling someone to be positive.
