I would never be able to work in customer service jobs. I can finally after all these years order food for myself(on the phone or in person) or talk to customer service when I need assistance. I still stutter but I am able to do it now and I keep the conversation as short as possible. Im 23 now and up until a few years ago I couldn't do all this and I always made my mom or my brother order food for me. Good to know that you were able to so maybe I'll be able to someday. Most of the time I'm also able to tell when a block is coming and think of a different word but not always. I think my stutter has kinda evolved in that sense. I don't repeat sounds or words now, that stopped happening a few years ago. Now if I am unable to find an alternative word I just get stuck. It's kinda hard to explain but my throat actually hurts a bit and I am unable to utter a single word. Then I just pretend to forget the word I was trying to say and use filler words like "um" or "uh". This happens to me fairly often but it happens to me a lot during interviews. I just end up looking like I don't know what I'm talking about. Even when I am able to find an alternative word most of the time it doesn't sound right because I need to be specific when giving an interview.
