I was fluent for 5 years. Age 72-77. The stigma still affects me although I was married to a wonderful man who always presented me proudly socially. It’s up to each of us to deal with our stuttering individually. Some really great people accept you with whatever issues you might have. I don’t know about disclosing initially that you stutter. It’s only after you are appreciated for all the other traits you have. The right person is out there for you. I’d imagine staying within the circle of those who know and appreciate you for things besides your fluency is your best choice.
