49 year old lifelong stutterer here. As a kid, I told myself that I'd never let it hold me back. Also, I have an identical twin that doesn't stutter (WTF). Anyway, I spent 4 years in the military, then college, then 25 years with 4 federal agencies. I've done quite a few mission briefings and a lot of public speaking. It sucks every time. It's always going to suck. However, people get it, and you will get better at it over time. Pro Tip: What helps me is writing very comprehensive e-mails and other forms of non-verbal communication. This cuts down on meetings and questions. And remember, after meeting new people, they will understand that you stutter. How you see yourself as a stutterer is always worse than how other people see you as a stutterer.
