when I am meeting new people or interviewing, I like to start the conversation by addressing my stutter almost immediately. (I know people with disabilities shouldn’t have to do this, but in my experience, not everyone understands stuttering as a disability and is quick to assume I am just so nervous that I can’t speak clearly) I might say “hi! I just want you to know before we begin that I do have a stuttering problem. I just don’t want you to think I am nervous or being rude in any way if it comes up. I love talking to people and I am really excited to be here” it seems to help break the ice a little bit too
