Is stammering/stuttering a psychological problem? Hello. I have been a stammer from the age of 6-7. Before that, I was fluent in fact I was so fluent and efficient on speaking that it was stunning to the adults. But things had changed later and have been through many treatments done by some quack (I am from a third world country where superstition exists vastly) which was unsuccessful as usual. As a kid, I was taken to many doctors also but failed. No doctor could really explain how it was started because my parents were giving the information and doctors had no clue about it. Their information was like 'He was fine but somehow he became a stammer' which was not the reason. After so many years, one day I encountered someone who used to be a stammer also but he is doing fine now. According to him(He knows me and my family personally and used to live with us) My mom was quite abusive to me and used to beat me for tiny reasons. It impacted my brain and made me stammer out of fear. I googled it and found his information relevant. I just want to know was he correct. Is this possible to turn someone stammer just by torturing at a little age?
