Physiological aspects of stuttering and blocks. Iv read an article that explained some of the physiological process of what happens when we undergo a block when trying to speak. From my understanding we are tensing our upper core( shoulders chest throat etc) in anticipation to having to speak. Thus closing and tightening our throat THEN trying to force air out of it by speaking creating a block. I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not. But I'm wondering if anyone has used THIS aspect for stutter and blocks to manage symptoms. Either through techniques to relax your muscles when speaking. Or through medication? The medication aspect interest me in particular. In the past medication for stutter has been through dopamine or anxiety. But how about medication that targets muscles like baclofen? Or medication that targets the nervous system response like maybe Lyrica? Would love to hear yalls thoughts.
