I think your ideas are right on target. One thing I would add is helping the parents become good listeners to the childs experiences of stuttering during the day. I find when working with teenagers and adults that they really had no one to talk to you about their stuttering. They had no idea why they were different but they knew they were. They carried those thoughts by themselves for years. This may be because in years past the idea was to ignore the stuttering behaviors and not to bring it up with the child. Parents need to know that there is no research behind this theory and that their child needs them to be empathetic and to be there for their child when things get tough.
