5 1/2 year old stuttering Hello, Hoping to get some advice. My 5 1/2 year old started to stutter about 2 months ago, it wasn’t often and seemed to happen when she was excited. In the last 2 weeks it has become more frequent and noticeable. She doesn’t seem to be bothered by it, no facial expressions suggesting she’s having difficulty getting her words out. She was always extremely advanced in her speech, at 6 months she was saying 3x the amount of words she should have been (according to her doctor). By the time she was 1 she could speak almost a full sentence. At the age of 3 you could have a full blown conversation with her and it was very clear! Im not sure if I should be worried, is it a phase? No one in our family has a stutter. As of now I have been just asking her to slow down when she’s speaking. It seems to happen more so when she asks a question “d-d-do you know where my doll is?” “C-c-can I have a drink?” Her two little friends asked her yesterday if she had a stutter……I’m worried that if it’s being pointed out to her it may cause anxiety. Any advice or suggestions would be great!
