I killed a stand up comedy set. Just wanted to share cause I know this can be a very gloomy sub where you start to think you arent 'normal' cause of your speech impediment. I struggle with social problems alot like most people with stutter. But I'm proud of the fact that I never let the perception of stuttering and how others reacted stop me from doing something that I wanted to do. I killed my first stand up set last month and its definitely been a major boost in confidence for me. I stutter about every two sentences and have primarily blocks. I would rate my stutter as moderate. I was inspired by the comedian Drew lynch who has a very different stutter from mine. I had a 5 minute stand up set. I addressed my stuttering head on and made jokes about it too. It was great and made the whole thing go alot smoother. I got alot of laughs and I'm sure a few jokes I couldve executed better but whatever. I definitely plan on doing something like this again.
