I came across your post because my son is a senior in high school and I wanted to see what careers the stutter group recommended for people who stutter to help give him ideas of paths for his future. When he was young he wanted to be a marine biologist but as he’s gotten older his stutter has worsened and he’s lost all interest in future paths. He would be content working construction for his dad. He might be able to live off of that for future but it would be a waste. Not only to him but for what he could one day do for the world. He is so smart and an amazing person. After reading all of your comments - I think it is safe to sum it up that there may be challenges and it might be a little more difficult but he should leave stuttering out of the equation when looking towards his future and focus on what he would actually enjoy doing- talking will factor into any good position. Thanks for the post and everyone’s responses. You all break my heart and make me happily amazed at the same time. Follow your heart because the world would not be as good of a place without you.
