Neurodivergence So I've been going down an internet rabbit hole, on Autism, Asperger's(now called High Functioning Autism), and Neurodivergence in General. I never considered myself as a candidate for any of these conditions, until someone made a joke about me being Autistic. I said I was not, because I don't want to make light of people who actually deal with these conditions. Well this caused the person to burst into laughter, and proceed to inform me I'm one of the most obvious autistic people they have ever met. I never even considered this because I've worked with people with Autism I've seen how awful they can be at reading body language, tone of voice, understanding sarcasm. I am the exact opposite I read people very well almost to well. Often times I just instantly get a read on a person and I'm usually correct not always I try and not to make assumptions to much. So I wondered if stuttering is a symptom of Autism. Apparently it automatically, along with epilepsy, is in the neurodivergent category. This had moved therapy from focusing on speech and fluency to a more encompassing and accepting form of therapy from what I have read. Also speech issues are a trait of Autism which can include stuttering. Just curious if maybe I am wrong or got bad information, possibly as my research consists of non academic internet sources mostly. Or if anyone else has looked into neruodivergence themselves, and have any opinions as this seems to be a broad confusing and somewhat controversial topic. Thank you!
