I'm 100% recovered from lifelong stuttering, and have helped a handful of people on reddit start their recovery process and have "holy shit" moments. After I read your story, I think I may be able to help you too. I don't believe any tightness you feel in your face is related to stretched skin, but due to muscle tension. Muscles are extremely strong. Don't underestimate how effortless movements can feel when they're working properly or how difficult the most simple task can feel when they're dysfunctional. I have a few questions: 1. Do you suffer from persistent headaches? 2. Do you grind your teeth, or notice significant wear on them? 3. Are there certain sounds that you find extremely difficult to make, even under the most forgiving circumstances like being alone? 4. When you yawn, does your jaw feel sore for a bit after? 5. Do you have allergies or asthma? 6. Where do you rest your tongue when you're not using it?
