Maybe more than any other factor. >When you stop feeling shame about your stutter, the ridicule stops as well. People will hate you regardless if you respect yourself or not. I've gotten into places playing the submissive role and I've been excluded from spaces by attempting to assert myself. The people didn't like it and saw it as a threat to their bullying and acted within their means. Don't give false positivity because that is not how everyone acts. Try to not step on people's toes, be respectful (and compassionate!) and try to not show any "social weakness" that you can.
