Regardless, yeah, if this lawyer is reachable, I think it could be really helpful to talk to him, even if it went a little beyond a consultation and you had to pay him for a bit of his time. If he's good, it could be invaluable. And I bet he's good. Once you know what you're legally entitled to, you're in a way better position. Of course, the place may just suck and you might want to leave anyway? But...eh, it sounds like at least some parts/people are good since you are excited about this project? IF they feel they need the dumb phone covered so excessively, I really wish they'd just hire another phone person, someone who wants to do that job.
