As someone that has disabling stress stuttering. There is no advice. I have a job interview today at 230pm for a position that’s going to put my family into middle class if I get it. I’m very nervous and anxious. The only thing I can do is just explain to them I stutter. There is no magic cure. I’ve been denied employment dozens of times because they think I’m mentally handicapped or I hold back on information because some words I just skip because I know I’ll get stuck on them. There isn’t enough awareness for stuttering. We don’t have “national stuttering day” or campaigns to raise money to cure it. Many people don’t even know someone that stutters, and we get portrayed as slow and dumb in movies most of the time or weak. There is nothing I can tell you that you don’t already know that will help. I can’t even figure it out myself and if ONE more person tells me to “just relax” I’m going to punch them in the face.
