I stuttered for 65 years so, although I finally did recover, I do still consider myself a stutterer. I definitely earned my stripes and stuttered for more years than most of you have been alive. We are really the only ones who truly understand the many ways our dysfluency has influenced our lives both socially and professionally. No one else has the unique experience of the frustration of having so much to contribute and yet feeling unable to adequately express ourselves, or the embarrassment of our unique disorder being exposed. We can support and encourage each other as no one else can, and we owe it to our 1% community to be there to do whatever is possible to help others.
