I’m a little confused why people are claiming that a stutter is something that you should just accept. Speech therapy and the use of specific exercises on a consistent basis can in fact ‘cure’ even a severe stutter. I was pretty much born with this, and immediately put into speech therapy in school. I’d say I was 95% fluent, which is definitely enough to be confident and operate in a normal way. During summer breaks, my speech would significantly deteriorate and wouldn’t go back to normal until I returned to school. Yes, stuttering for most of us is a neurological problem that can’t be 100% cured. But I find it a little pessimistic and uninformed to just ‘accept’ it like that. I speak from experience that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, and rewiring your brain through cognitive training is possible.
