I used to be like you—I had severe stuttering, exactly the same as you describe. After reading your story, it’s as if you’re describing my past self. I worked with a speech therapist, but I can assure you she only helped me by about 40%. The most important part of healing from stuttering is YOU. I believe people who stutter don’t have an organic problem; if we did, we wouldn’t sometimes speak fluently and other times struggle. Here’s the process I followed to achieve roughly 75% fluency: 1. Relaxation: I focus on relaxing my mouth, throat, and stomach. I believe stuttering can worsen when these areas are tense. 2. Slow Pace: I speak slowly and deliberately. 3. Breathing: I always inhale deeply before speaking. The key to this journey is your mindset. If you don’t believe you can recover, even the best techniques won’t help. Healing takes time—you can’t undo nine years of struggle in a year or two. Stay consistent and patient. Lastly, don’t fear mistakes. They’re part of growth and will only make you stronger. Good luck on your journey!
