I did speech therapy for a while, and it helped at first. I took a break for a couple weeks due to familial problems, and I noticed my speech had gotten worse. It really discouraged me, and I had to start over and learn the techniques again. I thought of it as money and time simply wasted. Speech therapy does work for some people, but it didn’t work for me. Therapy is a LONG-term commitment, and some people can’t handle the stress and financial burden it brings. In my opinion? If you think you have the time and money to put into it, by all means, do it. However, as I said before, it’s long-term, so don’t expect immediate results. I personally don’t pursue it. Instead, I practice on my own and use medications.
